Brownfield’s Prosthetics and Orthotics Joins National Limb Loss & Preservation Registry

Meridian, Idaho — Brownfield’s Prosthetics and Orthotics, has joined the National Limb Loss & Preservation Registry (LLPR) in the goal of generating knowledge about which advances and treatments improve the outcomes of patients with congenital and acquired limb loss and limb difference. Consistent with quality registries that focus on other health populations, the LLPR collects universal data elements and links hospital-, provider- and patient-reported outcomes over time. The Registry strives to alleviate significant data gaps, increase access to care and improve care models related to limb loss and preservation in the U.S.

“The Limb Loss & Preservation Registry is critical for the future of patient care. The goal is to strengthen communication and collaboration with the patient’s entire healthcare team. With statistics being over two decades old and no longitudinal data ever being collected, we know the LLPR can help increase this data which is imperative to improve patient care in the area of prosthetics,” says Barry Jones, owner and CPO at Brownfield’s P&O.

The Registry, led by Mayo Clinic and under contract with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense (DoD) is currently enrolling both orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) providers and hospital systems. The LLPR represents key stakeholder groups including health care team members, researchers, regulators, manufacturers, payers, industry representatives and patient groups. The LLPR provides data to compare the effectiveness of different surgical approaches, assess the efficacy of different clinical practices and evaluate different assistive technologies.

“With patient care locations in Meridian and Nampa, Idaho, Brownfield’s P&O is proud to partner with the LLPR to address a substantial public health knowledge gap by giving clinicians and researchers the ability to benchmark limb loss statistics and analyze data by age, gender, type of limb loss, preservation surgery, and prosthetic. Our Company strives to be an innovator in the fields of prosthetics, orthotic and post-mastectomy care,” says Tom Padilla, owner and CPO. “Most importantly, it gives us the ability to ask new questions, restore independence and renew lives.”
